About Omega…

Omega Tactical logo

Omega Tactical came about due to my love of knives, guns and martial arts. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve loved blades. Short ones, long ones and everything in between! By age 7, that had expanded to include firearms, when my Dad got me my first rifle… and it’s been a wild ride ever since!

When I was 10, my father enrolled me in Judo with the man who ran the classes for the police academy. Little did he know that that he was starting me on a life long journey…

Since that time I’ve been involved with Shotokan karate, Tae Kwon Do, Jeet Kune Do/Jun Fan, Kali, Arnis, Escrima, various forms of Pencak Silat, Muy Thai, Garrote, Western Boxing, Fencing and Savate just to name a few. 50+ years worth of martial arts! As to guns and shooting, I’ve been actively shooting and hunting for over 50 years as well!

I’ve been quite a few thing in life till now…construction foreman, gun shop owner, temp worker, wholesale firearms sales, professional student, mechanic, gunsmith, custom knife purveyor, tree trimmer, store manager for two large sporting goods chains and a few more that slip my mind at the moment.

To everyone’s surprise, though I don’t know why, I love to read. I may look like a thug…and I am…but I’m an educated thug. This, believe it or not, lead to years of library work. I’ve worked for both public and academic libraries for over 30 years. I am the toughest librarian you will ever meet.

As one might expect from a martial artist, I am also fairly fit. I can only thank Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard for their stories of fit fighting men and the visions of Frank Frazzeta for this. When I was 16 I decided to join a weight lifting gym over summer vacation and found myself at the Coral Gables Health Spa in Coral Gables, Fla. It was 1977 and back then we didn’t know as much about health science (as in scientific knowledge) or nutrition as we do now, but we still made do! Steve Reeves and an up and coming Arnold Schwarzenegger were the idols then! By the time school started again in September, I was pretty ripped. I’ve been working out ever since.

So much so that at the age of 59 I acquired my ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association) Certified Personal Trainer certification and am currently working on my ISSA Sports Nutrition Certificate!

You are never too old to learn ANYTHING! It just takes time, paying attention and perseverance!

So with everything I’ve done over the years, I thought to bring the years of experience and knowledge that I have accumulated, to YOU! I know more than a little bit, about quite a lot. If I can help folks out along the way, then that is good thing! For you AND for me, because I’m not done learning…and you shouldn’t be either!
